Step 1:
Instructions for installing Version 2.42 update
1. Unzip patch to the folder of your choice:
2. Run the setup program you just unzipped
If an error message "Old file not found" or "contents do not match" indicates
that a file being patched is missing or has been modified from the orginal. To
remedy this copy the original nfshp2.exe file from your cd and paste it into
your installation directory should be C:\Program Files\EA Games\Need For Speed
Hot Pursuit 2. Run the setup program again it should work. If it doesn't you
will have to uninstall and reinstall the game then run the patch setup again. Be
sure not to delete your saved data files if you have to uninstall the game.
3. When you have the game patched open the installation directory right click
on nfshp2.exe then left click on copy. You will see a text folder right click
on it and then left click on paste. The reason for this will be explained later
in the directions.
Step 2:
Instructions for version 2.40 no cd patch.
1. Extract the zip file to your HP 2 installation directory.
2. Rename the file nfshp2.exe to nfshp240.exe then right click on the file left
click on send to desktop shortcut.
3. Copy the following folders from your HP 2 game cd to your installation
directory:
Actors
AI
Audio
Cars
Movies
Particle
Tracks
If you get a message files already exist click yes to all.
You can now play version 2.40 without using your cd.
Step 3:
Instructions for version 2.42 no cd patch.
1. Extract the zip to your HP 2 installation directory.
2. Rename the nfshp2.exe file to nfshp242.exe then right click on file and left
click on send to desktop shortcut.
You can now play version 2.42 without using the cd.
Step 4:
Open the text folder right click on nfshp2.exe then left click on copy now
paste it into your HP 2 installation directory. Right click nfshp2.exe then
left click on send to desktop shortcut.
This version you have to use the cd to play. If you can't join a server using
the 2.42 no cd patch use this one with your cd you should be able to join.
Step 5:
Command line addons to make game start faster.
Right click on each HP 2 desktop shortcut (one at a time) left click on
properties and add +nofrustration +nomove to the target line.
My version 2.42 looks like this.
"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2\nfshp242.exe"
+nofrustration +nomovie
Step 6:
Asac version 2.091
New version
is out you'll have to register on the forums for the link.
1. Download the file above and extract it into My Documents\EA Games
2. Read the Read me file and follow the directions for your operating
system.
3. Once you have Asac installed you are ready to record your lap
times. When you want to upload your times to the central server
click on tools then records. At the bottom of the new window click
on upload. You will be prompted to create an account. after you
create your account click on upload again.
